VDS vs VPS: Compare Resources and Terms
The names VDS and VPS may be used in different formats by providers. For a solid choice, compare the resource allocation and technical limits of the service rather than the product name.
Why not decide by name alone?
VPS is generally used for virtual private server while VDS is used for virtual dedicated server. However, marketing names do not imply the same resource policy in every provider. A strict assumption like “VDS always allocates physical cores” does not provide accurate comparison.
The same virtualization technology can be offered with different resource allocation policies. Operating system-level isolation and processor capacity allocation are different technical issues.
Features to look at side by side in the offer

How to evaluate performance?
Use a test that is representative of your workload. The CPU-intensive conversion job, database query, and static file service are not offloaded to the same resource. Do not consider a single disk benchmark result as an indicator of the speed of the entire application.
Perform the test with a controlled load appropriate to the conditions of use. Monitor application response time, error rate, memory usage and disk latency together. Note that short-term high speed may not be the same as continuous use capability.
Which server should you choose?
First determine the level of resources and control required. Then compare it with the total cost, support coverage, and growth opportunity. Don't eliminate just by the letter in the product name.
